Weekly Adventure

Each week, we update the focus for learning across the nursery with additional key information for each colour adventurer group.

Skill of the Week Cutting (Consolidate from previous week)

 

 

  • Cutting natural resources, paper and card and using different materials
  • Focus on holding the scissors, using with one hand and safely.
  • Look at owl pictures and snipping edges of photographs/images
  • Look at which hand is their dominant hand (right/left)
  • Create fringes around different materials
  • Create animal nests snipping string and wool, focus on squeezing, open and closed.

 

 

Story of the Week - Easter Stories

 

-  Read Story, focus on the repetition, repeating phrases. Link to Phonics Aspect 5 ( Alliteration)

 

-Story Map and discussing the sequence of events. 

 

-Discuss Characters and Act Out

 

-Recreate the Story with Different Scenarios

 

-Innovate- Use the retell hand changing the object, place, problem, solution.

 

-Explore life cycles; owls, plants

 

  

 

 

Rhyme of the Week - Hot Cross Buns

 

CONDITION – Add signs to a rhyme

 

Stage 3 rhyme development: Rhyme that uses fingers

 

Stage 4 rhyme development: Cross the mid line with hand movement across the body (when hand swims)

Phonics of the Week: Aspect 5: Alliteration

To develop understanding of alliteration 

To explore how different sounds are articulated, and to extend understanding of 
alliteration 

To listen to sounds at the beginning of words and hear the differences between them 

 

Possible links to the curriculum this week

Forest School Adventures/Gardening

 

We are very lucky to have 3 brand new green houses in our Nursery garden. 
This week we will continue to plant vegetables such as tomatoes, broad beans and carrots.
We will learn how to look after our own seedlings, and as they grow and get a little bigger, we will transfer them to the allotment beds in our garden where will grow and nurture them as part of our Together Times sessions.

Create- Cutting (and spreading)

Cuts a straight line-using helpful hand to guide

Use knife to spread butter and then to cut into small bite size pieces by holding pieces in one hand and slicing with the other.
